I absolutely adore this story. The pace in which it moves along; the characters, who are also real-life people, and who's development show wonderfully; the background information provided; the little details, which are more important than you think; the dog (!); the writing: fabulous, great job Grogan!; and most importantly - the moral of the story. It all comes together beautifully, and if you really want to get into non-fiction, I deeply suggest this book. It has opened me up to a whole other genre. I can stay, with confidence, that this is... my favourite book, and shall be for a while. It will be hard to find another.

This book brought back many memories of my first two dogs, although they were good dogs. I cried my bloody eyes out at the end. It is truly amazing what you can feel for a dog.

A great book for any dog lover. I laughed out loud and cried like a baby. The story of two people and their crazy dog. Follows life's ups and downs and everything in between. This was an easy weekend/beach read.
I really enjoyed this book, and I think it helped me understand the bond people can feel with pets. It also had some depth and reflection on life, which was cool (though I don't agree with all the conclusions in the book). In general this was a nice book; at one point I felt there was a bit too much information about the couple's sex life.
Never in my life has a book reduced to me to tears more than this book. Very honest, funny and sad. Great read even for non-dog lovers.

The book is good enough, but I'm not sure it's worth the hype. However, if you ever owned a dog in your life, you can't help recognizing the rollercoaster of emotions caused by them.
