Just finished this book and WOW! Kiersten White wrote an amazing book! Frankenstein has always moved me, particularly because Mary was so young, yet understood humanity more thoroughly than her contemporaries. White's imaginative version of the story from Elizabeth's perspective is perfect and addressed many of the same thoughts and questions I have about women during Shelley's time. Thank you for such an enjoyable foray into a timeless story.

This book was kinda just average for me, and I believe the original is 10x better. Near the end of this book it diverged from the original story in quite an interesting way. I especially love how Keirsten White is able to explain the setting.

Surprisingly, I enjoyed this book way more than I expected! To be honest, the main reason why I read it on ebook instead of adding it to my physical shelves was that I hate the cover.

I was hesitant to read this for a long time, not only because I had seen mixed reviews, but because Frankenstein is my favourite classic and I didn't know how this would turn out.

I loooooved it. I loved the writing style. The only other book I had read from [a:Kiersten White|3027554|Kiersten White|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1254205920p2/3027554.jpg] was [b:Paranormal|11670792|Paranormal (Paranormal, #1)|Kiersten White|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1311116563l/11670792._SY75_.jpg|6949381], which I read years and years ago a remember not liking it. The intricate writing style was lovely, and reminded me on occasion to that of the original.

The characters I liked. Reading the title I thought the plot would go a way that ended up not being, and that surprised me. I was also pleasantly surprised at how well characters are built, especially Elizabeth and Victor.

I choose to erase the epilogue from my memory because I prefer the story to end that way.

“Some nights, when even my child’s heart knew that what I had been asked to endure was too much, I would stand on the edge of the lake, lift my face to the stars, and scream. Nothing ever called back. Even among the creeping things of the lake’s night, I was alone. Until Victor.”
