Deviant Hacker
The O'Malley Family (Mafia Wars, Book Nine)
By: Maggie Cole
Narrated by: Wen Ross, Kai Kennicott

I can't say enough good things about this series. 9 books in and each book is as good as the last and still leaves me wanting more! Maggie Cole has a true talent for the mafia romance genre. This story follows Declan O'Malley. The hacker of the clan, he is a tough nut to crack. He does have his share of women though and after seeing Simona in his bar he is instantly smitten. Called away to the warehouse, his time with he is cut short. Now their paths cross again, but not in a romantic way. His family is being targeted through the postings on the internet and he has finally caught the hacker, only to find himself face to face with Simona! Talk about chemistry! Though there is an age gap, the two are perfectly matched. Smart, sassy, at times a little immature, Simona is quite the woman. She shows bravery and brains, and is quite the adventurer which Declan loves. Declan is a rebel. Going against family protocol, he is going to do what he has to, finding a way to save the family and keep Simona. It's a fantastic, exciting and action packed listen.Plus we get glimpses of our favorites from the other books in the series, giving us the family feel and continuity I love. I can't wait to see what Cole has in store for us next!

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are such a fabulous team, and their dual narration makes this story come alive.Kennicott has the perfect voice for Simona. She can bring the youthful sass in her voice and keep her intelligence and feelings forefront. Ross is an impeccable alpha. He knows Declan, gives him that rebellious streak and gives him feelings of love and passion. Always a pleasure to have these two tell me a story and this is no exception.

2.5 The other 8 books in this series got 4-5+ stars but this one, nope. I don’t like the use of “daddy” in my books but that isn’t the reason for the low rating. It’s the use of “daddy” over 90 times. And how Declan refers to himself in 3rd person as “daddy”. Too much ick for me. In one page:
“…daddy will reward you”; “Daddy’s ready to throw some holiday spirit on you”; “Daddy’s ready to play”; “What now, Daddy?”; “Merry Christmas, Daddy”. Incredibly ick! And what is with the siblings all accidentally falling for someone from a rival family, three not even knowing they were part of rival families due to unknown parentage. It’s getting old quick. I still love the overall storyline and all the characters though. The writing is fun and easy.

Deviant Hacker by Maggie Cole is an age gap captive dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott. This is the ninth book in the Mafia Wars series. The book can be read as a standalone, but the stories are interconnected.

I absolutely love Maggie's books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Declan and Simona. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the final book in the series Relentless Hunter to be released on January 1, 2022 so I can get Finn's story.

Wen and Kai did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book you if you love age gap romances, dark romances, mafia romances, captive romance or romantic suspense.

Deviant Hacker is the fourth book about the O’Malley family and the ninth book in the Mafia Wars series. This was not my favorite book In the series due to personal opinions about daddy kinks in relationships but the writing was still great. Declan and Simona love and hate relationship will leave you wanting more. I cannot wait for the final book of the series. It has been a wild ride and I do not want it to end!
