The synopsis for this sounded so up my alley it's unreal but in practice this short story fell so flat. Almost nothing in the description is really developed on in the story - you'd honestly get just as much from reading the synopsis as I got from reading the whole thing. This isn't bad per se it just didn't really do anything and I felt a tad like I'd wasted fifteen minutes reading it. I am intrigued by the author's writing style, though, so I will be checking out their other works.

I find short stories really hard to gauge with a star rating because 99% of the time I'm left wanting more. This one is no different. I turned the last page and went "where's the rest of it?" Maybe short stories aren't my thing. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent story and I enjoyed it, but I just wanted more.
