Oh Boy!! TBH I was not sure I was going to like this book at all when I started it. It sounded like it was going to be teenage angst and I was convinced I would DNF it.
I am glad to say for once I was wrong. There was minimal angst atleast the Bella Swan kind. There were easy mistakes that could have been fixed with some communication but they were not the massive problem of typical tropes, it was resolved inevitably with some much procrastinated communication.

All in all the romance took a back seat and the more important thing was just friendship and found family, encompassed in some music. I enjoyed the book a lot more then I expected to. It was effortlessly diverse with LGBTQ+ and minority characters being prominent.

The father daughter relationship surprised me, and the outcome of that relationship was even more surprising for me.

Ugh not me crying in the club (okay fine, in bed) on a Tuesday because of this book! I really loved so much about it, from the depression rep that truly made me feel so seen, to the romance, to the genuine found family friendships Liana forged with the boys of Third Eye. Honestly I'll tear up again if I think about it too much! Regardless, I really loved this book <3

I got as far as the main character's reaction to her accidental sabotage, which she refuses to fix by just telling the truth, and I cannot read any more of her.

I have read Tashie Bhuiyan's other two books and absolutely loved them. I would say that this book is of a similar quality. As with both of her other books, troubled child/parent relationships is a central conflict in the book. And I think that the MC is a very well written character, I wanted things to work out for her. I think that all the band members are great supporting characters, and it nice to read about such a supportive group of male friends. My one issue with the book is how slow burn the romance is. I would have liked things to move at a slightly faster pace so we could really see them as a couple. But that is just a personal preference. If you like her previous novels, you will 100% enjoy this one as well.

A South Asian American teen girl grapples with anxiety and depression following her high school graduation and mother's recent death. Struggling in the face of her father's absenteeism and neglect, Liana tries to please him by focusing on her new internship at his Music Recording company only to find herself getting tangled up with a an aspiring band and its friendly, yet complex members.

Heartfelt, with excellent mental health rep and TONS of popular song recs, this was great on audio narrated by one of my favs, Soneela Nankani. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and Librofm for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review! This is by far my new fav from Tashie Bhuiyan!!

A highly anticipated read that it didn't disappoint! I loved the interactions between Liana and Sky (they were so sweet!). Liana's struggle with anxiety and depression was portrayed in a realistic, kind way (unlike some books, it didn't evoke pity or sympathy, but rather empathy and empowerment—reducing the stigma around mental health).
