The amount of love I have for this book, and Gansey. Dude, holy fuck.

“She recognized the strange happiness that came from loving something without knowing why you did, that strange happiness that was sometimes so big that it felt like sadness.”

“My words are unerring tools of
destruction, and I’ve come unequipped with the ability to disarm them.”

"Safe as life."

Well it was good and it wasn't. For the first half of the book it was really slow. At about page 170 things really started to speed up.

I enjoyed the plot if the story. It was good, it was different I really enjoyed it. I liked the characters but it seemed that Gansey most of all was different from when it was his point of view to when it was someone else's point of view. I really liked Adam and was surprise with what happens. After page 170 things started to make more sense, once there I really enjoyed this book.

Yea I know short review but oh we'll. can't wait for the 2nd book.

I loved the equation between all the characters and how author is slowly developing bond between our main couples. I love this doomed love story thing gansey and blue have going on. It is one of the things that making me more excited for other books. I loved how ronan stood up for adam and saved him for his father and whole noah thing? Woah blew my mind. Gonna start reading next book soon

FIRST READ: MAY 2016
I really want to do this review in english even though the book just came out in Argentina, idk.

First of all I want to start this saying that I've been DYING to read this book since The dream thieves came out. I wanted to meet Blue and the raven boys so so bad. I didn't even know what the book is about, honestly. I had been told that it was fantasy (though I'd say it is paranormal), and of course I knew all of the main characters because when you have a feeling that a book you haven't read yet will be amazing, you can't just scroll by on your tumblr dashboard when a fanart passes by.

So yes, in this year's Buenos Aires book fair I looked for the entire series in english but no publisher had it, so I decided to go with the spanish translation instead. Really good translation, Maggie's words don't feel dull or fake because of the language change, and that's amazing. It doesn't happen a lot.

Well, the plot was kind of meh, but I really liked it. You have this ley lines storyline that went really well (and creeped the fuck out of me, too), but I liked how the subplots intertwined: Blue's family and Neeve, Blue meeting the raven boys, Adam's, Ronan's, Gansey's, NOAH'S, Whelk's... it just felt like she was telling a real life story, you know? Where a character isn't just looking for what he wants, but also helping and interacting with others, having "subplots" in their own lives, living as a normal human being would without getting completely swallowed by this hero impulse. I can't decide if it was slow or not, and that's something that I've been hearing about a lot when people are talking about this series: that it's slow. I don't really know if I could tell, but the only thing I know is that I never wanted to stop reading. If this book had one thousand pages I'd read and enjoy them all. Yes, the main plot (ley lines) wasn't always moving and was sometimes put apart for a while until some character issues could be resolved, but this is not a book in which nothing happens.

I really liked the characters, like I was expecting to.

Blue is just... such an unique main character, I completely loved her. She was so flamboyant but no one really seemed to care, and no one teased her about it. She wants to be different from the crowd, and she is!!! But being different doesn't mean she can't take the right decisions, or that she can't have best friends, or that she has to have an abusive/absent family. And to me, that was immensely important and meaningful. I loved her relationship with the raven boys. She loves Noah and would do anything for him. She really wants to help Gansey in his search. She gets to a point when she understands Ronan and just accepts him, it doesn't matter how many fights he gets in. And how she can completely understand Adam's situation, because he is like her, poor and definitely not made for Aglionby at all. And I think that's why they feel attracted to each other at first, because in the middle of all this rich folks with helicopters and luxurious car, they are the only ones that know what working for money means, and how the lack of it can make everything go to hell. Though I'm sure that Blue and Adam's relationship will eventually fade into a friendship. Because Gansey.

THE RAVEN BOYS ARE SO UNIQUE THEY ARE WHAT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED THEM TO BE OH MY GOD LET ME BE A PART OF YOUR GANG I'M EASILY SCARED BUT WHEN THAT HAPPENS MY FIRST INSTICT IS TO PUNCH PEOPLE I CAN HELP YOU

Gansey was exactly rich!me: he has an ugly car nobody likes and spends money on GETTING A BED IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROOM. Oh and he also has a weird journal. But in a way he seemed like your normal, mainstream main character to me. Like I could find him in any other YA book. But I really liked him interacting with other characters, because that trope somehow faded when he was getting Ronan out of a fight, begging for Noah to come back or talking about Glendower with Adam or Blue. He is the best version of him when he's with others, and I'm really curious about it. I want to read more of his POVs on next books.

Adam was also your generic poor boy, but that didn't seem like a problem to me. I really liked him, though I really think his relationship with Blue can't get anywhere. Also he focuses on the stupidest things (and I may be saying this just because I was only really poor when I was a baby and, as you can guess, I don't remember shit about it), like when he makes all this fuss about living with Gansey and I can totally understand that he doesn't want to depend on him but BOY YOU'RE ON AN ABUSIVE HOUSEHOLD I DON'T FUCKING CARE IF YOU HAVE TO LIVE UNDER A BRIDGE JUST FUCKING LEAVE THAT PLACE

RONAN WAS MY FAV AND I CAN'T EVEN TELL WHY??? Like he had this magical troublemaker aura following him but he was also really gentle with Sierra (is the raven called Sierra in english, too? Please let me know) and he really loves his friends and when he was in real danger of being expelled from school he sat his ass down and fucking studied and passed all his finals. You go, bro. I'd go til the end of the world with you, bro. He's totally a hufflepuff and y'all can fight me as much as you want on this one.

NOAH WAS JUST SO TRAGIC POOR BOY. I did know the fandom talks about him being dead inside and I already knew his last name was Czerny so it was kind of a spoiler but it didn't ruin his character at all. I really appreciate his friendship with Blue, even if like half of it is her giving him energy to manifestate. I don't care. I love Noah. Someone hug him, please. He needs a hug so bad. And cookies.

That's was it, I think!!! I'm so glad I finally got to read this book!!!!!!! I'm already dying waiting for the next ones to be published here.

SECOND READ: JUNE-JULY 2017
I just can't believe such a good book exists. I can't. In a week I'll be continuing on with the series and I can't wait honestly

THIRD READ: JULY 2019
I just realized I read this book two years ago, not last year like I thought. I don't know how I lived for two whole years without the raven boys. At this point my mom has read TRC and thinks of them as her children, so it's only fair that I think of them as my siblings.

TALENTED, BRILLIANT, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, SHOWSTOPPING, SPECTACULAR .

I quickly fell in love with all the characters. And the setting feels unique, sort of mystical with it's psychics and search for a long believed dead king. The language sometimes borders on poetic. I think this might end up being one of those series I re-read.
