I did have a few hiccups while reading through the first book of Promethea…the second one kind of goes slightly downhill. Alan Moore is a great writer, and I am somewhat losing the story for me. But there are a lot of things that are neat about it. I like how every cover pays homage to a particular artistic style, from Andy Warhol's to Van Gogh's, including a simile of mid-20th century monster movies.

Visually, this is a masterpiece, although I don't care for some of the font choices. The story is pretty out there with Sophie and Barbara exploring the afterlife looking for Barbara's husband Steve. Is the eleven issue detour navigating the tree of life necessary? I guess I'll find out.

Part two of Alan Moore's occult manifesto. Sophie and Barbara travel the paths of the sephirot. Visually stunning and a touching story.

I remarked to my friends this week that Promethea could be considered Moore's greatest work, but I'm terrible at making those kinds of arguments.

I guess this is technically a reread but omg it is still so good. I think Promethea story is my favorite comic, and in these deluxe editions, book two probably the best, with Sophie's climb on the tree of life. Also super worth getting a print edition instead of reading them online.

I really don't remember crying this much on the first read-through.

Promethea continues learning about the magical world by making her way up the Tree of Life. The writing and art continue to be stunning and the Absolute version brings out the colors and details in its oversized pages. An additional section shows some cover art designs from previous issues and versions.
