It was a fascinating world with an interesting premise that would have hooked me if it were not for the characters. The character’s attitudes and personalities put me so off of the plot that if this were not required reading for me, I would’ve dropped the book.

Way too long for what the story was trying to convey. Very slow pace and couldn’t keep my attention.

‘Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows’

despite having all the usual flaws of a classic (sexism, racist undertones/descriptions) 1984 was the first classic, apart from ‘little women’, that i read, understood and enjoyed. it really is a good book, and i’m glad i picked it up again.
