While I think this story overall is like a TV drama with no intense depth to it, I do think that Cheska was quite well-written, from the psychological aspect. The dialogue felt childish and unemotional, the book was lacking in descriptions of people and places, some events seemed to flit by in seconds when they should have been longer while with others it's the opposite, and some characters felt like they lacked some depth to them... But Cheska is a tragic case study on schizophrenia and watching her grow up and develop it and following her life with it ever since really pained my heart, I didn't feel emotional and other bits of the story except for her. The psychosis, paranoia, catatonia, trauma, delusions, obsessions, etc... Heart-wrenching and disturbing. She was so chaotic we wanted her to be vanquished but then she'd have these moments of complete vulnerability you just feel bad she's like this to begin with, and that Greta was so negligent about it that first time she was diagnosed is also so regrettable. I can easily say I read this book to see how Cheska's character arc ends and while her death was slightly disappointing, her life overall was interesting and saddening to follow. Also don't do like Greta and drink n smoke while pregnant bc you can get cases like Cheska afterwards!

Filled with cliches and unbelievable drama, annoying characters without any personality whose only remarkable features are that they are pretty and slender. Book was very long and meaningless in the end.

If I could give this book more than five stars, I would! This is a stunning and utterly heartbreaking story about love and loss and serious illness. I love Greta. I love David. I love Ava. And I love Cheska most of all!
