At this point in the series the books are still good, I love the action and intense nature of the plot and watching it all come together is really exciting. The writing is quick and easy to get through and there are so many pieces of the plot left to assemble. However, I feel like by the end of the third book should probably be attached to the characters? Feel something for them and fear their deaths maybe, and I just don’t. I’m not sure exactly why that is but maybe it’s just that everything is happening so fast and we have so few quiet moments that there’s nothing to bond over. The plot of this series is incredibly predictable and it’s starting to make me sad. There’s so much potential for this to be great but because I can predict exactly who will die and most of the plot twists by the first clue means it’s just mediocre. I’m missing the feeling of being immersed into the story. This just feels so obviously written and like none of this could possibly be real because you can do clearly see what the author has done and what happens only to further the plot.

Anyways, despite all these critiques, I don’t hate this series and I didn’t hate this book. I think these books are fun, quick reads and I’m learning I can’t really take them too seriously. I’m curious to (i assume) meet the final member of the Garde in the next book. 3.5 stars.
