I am just on a shitty book kick lately. This is the third in a row that I've suffered through that I just have not enjoyed at all.

I was bored the entire time. None of the characters came across as people I should care about at all. I just did . not. care.

Review-

I received this book in return for a honest review from the author. Dr. Deanna Nichols is a researching working on a cure for the people infected with the virus that wiped out most of the planet. She is also responsible for the virus that was used to end a brutal war, feels guilty so she's trying to find a cure since the vaccine that was created has some negative affects. Deanna used to work for Dr. Larsen but he passed away, he didn't have a problem killing people in the name of science but Deanna does. The option to obtain untainted DNA comes up when the General is contacted by a maximum security prison they didn't know was still active reached out looking for supplies.

The General sends Deanna in to the prison with only a guard a former war leader who's also a criminal in the prison. He thinks that the only want to save man kind is through a new generation of children and by using the criminals with the uninfected DNA they could do just that. However Deanna wants to save the already infected people, but under the orders of the general she enters the prison. However her time is short lived, the criminals are staging a break, and if the former war leader can't save her life, all could be lost forever.

I was really surprised by this book I'm always a little nervous with the whole Apocalyptic stuff, but it was surprisingly very good. The characters are well written, Deanna comes off as a the kind of woman who made a mistake and is willing to risk it all to fix it. The story is face paced but full of entertainment, not a dull moment to be found. Your instantly drawn in, wanting to know more. I finished it in one sitting, because I just had to know. I loved the ending it just left me with a smile and wanting more. I found it unique and full of twists and turns.

Highly recommended. Needs more of an ending though.

This was a really interesting read.

I loved the writing. Ioana Visan has impeccable writing. Her words draw you in. The characters are well thought out and you can definitely feel what is going on with them. There were a few questions that I had but most were answered.

The one thing that made this a hard read was although I enjoy apocalyptic reads, this one had a lot to do about the military. But it really didn’t was the weird thing. But the fact that Deanna is a geneticist basically working for the military (not really but sort of) and then has to go to a locked tight prison to save the world. Well, it all sounds fabulous but for some reason it just didn’t get me. I honestly think though that Ioana did a fabulous job of writing this story and that the only reason I didn’t like it was because it was not my cup of tea.

And! Even though I didn’t love this, I’m very curious where these characters are going to go next. It ends on a cliff hanger and made me want to know what is going to happen to these people and more importantly the population.

I completely recommend this to anyone that enjoys apocalyptic but with a more military edge. At 100 pages it is well worth the read, especially if you enjoy those genres.
