A fascinating but short and dry account of American history through an environmental lens. The ending is quite jarring - after all of the extensive information about the pre-colonial, early colonial, and westward expansion periods, to condense the past 120 years into two chapters felt tonally dissonant. I still learned a lot nevertheless.
