As always, I’ll read anything that Silvia Moreno-Garcia writes. This one’s a tense thriller with high stakes and no sff elements. Really really enjoyed this one. Excellent audiobook narration, too.

I can’t help but feel disappointed with this one. Sad, lifeless characters and a fairly predictable storyline

Moreno-Garcia is always good at setting and theme, but I almost always never connect fully with the characters or how the plot is handled, nor the pacing. I come away luke warm, always hoping the next one I try will provoke the reaction so many others seem to have to her work.

The book gets repetitive and choppy with the constantly changing perspectives. There are many books that fo this well, this isn't one of them. And it doesn't really find it's groove until the end and it still feels a lot like filler.
