Emma is a shy witch who was left by her fiancé and best friend right before they were to wed. She has happily rebuilt her life away from witch society and is happily living amongst humans…until Bastian walks back into her life.

This book was so sweet and earnest. It’s a story about trust and love and how we manage those things when we’ve been hurt so many times before. The story in this book was wonderful and I loved the back and forth with Bastian and Emma. It’s sweet and cute with a little spice thrown in. A friends to enemies to lovers slow burn that will leave you wanting more!

I really enjoyed this one. It’s about a witch, Emma, and a warlock, Bastian, who were betrothed but Bastian ran away when they were in their young 20s. They meet up again many years later because his mother is sick from a clause in the contract.

My favourite part of this story, other than the well written romance, is the perfect balance of world building and plot. Often with a fantasy novel, world building is quite heavy in the beginning, but in the story, they weave it throughout the entire novel and keep it quite light handed.

The characters in this novel are also so human feeling. Even with the fact that there’s magic balanced against the regular non-magic world. The villain is quite believable and vicious, which I love as well.

Such a fun story I definitely recommend it. I couldn’t put it down.

It was boring, no spark. I didn´t vibe with the setting, didn´t like the characters. I was listening to the audiobook and that made it even worse as the narrator speak in a sad and monotone way.
