This book was absolutely adorable - a fun, lighthearted, character-driven fantasy story that definitely made me hungry🤭
It’s a 3.75 ⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 for me - I really adored all the characters we meet - Doli, Jez, Theo and

Taenya, of course💜 I loved how Arleta gave her a chance and saw beyond her prickly front time and again. That was really sweet. Lowkey could’ve been a sapphic plot there but I loved Theo.

I did personally feel like the whole ‘will they won’t they’ bit between Theo and Arleta was dragged out too much. I understood her anxiety but I was about ready to find magic just to reach into the book and thwack them on the head to get them to JUST TALK ALREADY PLEASE!😂😅
Given their proximity and how the story goes that felt like more of wish fulfillment from the author, that this was how they wanted to the plot to go, than what was actually true to the characters. It feels like Arleta would’ve recognized the unkindness in leading on poor Theo for weeks and weeks.

it was getting so close to the end of the book and I was like SO HELP ME JUST SAY SOMETHING!! 😆

Didn’t feel quite true to her character to me, but the ending was sweet and it all turned out.

Very nice, cozy read and I look forward to seeing what the characters get up to in the sequels.
