This was a cozy, baking competition, fated mate fantasy romance. I found it rather lackluster and boring. It wasn't bad, just wasn't for me. There aren't really stakes in the story and it's very 'the real magic was the friends we made along the way'. It's good for anyone looking for an easy, cozy romance or anyone who loves baking competitions. But finishing it was a slog for me.

The 3.75 is mainly for technical reasons. I LOVED this story. It was cozy, cute, and heartwarming. I love the vibe of this. To make it a 4 and above I would have loved a bit more character development BUT I know that there’s more books in the series and as a cozy fantasy I know it’s not the main focus. I liked the world that was being built and felt like it could have dug a little deeper and still stayed lighthearted. But overall this was a wonderful cozy fantasy read.

An amazing, warm, and cozy read about baking, friendship, love, and believing in yourself. I fell in love with Theo almost immediately! He was the biggest sweetheart who was down bad so spectacularly. I would have folded immediately upon meeting this cinnamon roll of a man. Doli and Jez were quickly my favorite besties for Arleta, from Doli’s sunshine to Jez’s grumpy exterior. The redemption arc for Taenya was also so lovely and well done. Overall all a satisfying low stakes, cozy read even if I wanted to kick Arleta’s ass multiple times for being stuck in her self sabotaging ways!

I love a cozy fantasy and boy did this deliver. If The Spellshop, Legends and Lattes, and The Great British Baking Show had a baby - it would be this book. I loved the world and the characters so much. I also find comfort in baking and there is just something so soothing about reading a book centered around a warm kitchen and inviting treats. This book teaches its readers that leading with kindness will never be the wrong choice. This book is a warm hug and perfect for Fall reading.
