Cute book. But so predictable - as is, I think, the point
Every sentence was a struggle to get through because of the insane amount of adjectives used in them. Really left nothing for reader's imagination to fill in the gap.
There's being descriptive and then there's whatever this was. I think i would have enjoyed the story but i found this so hard to read because every sentence was structured like this and packed with descriptors. Reading that many back to back really killed any motivation or desire to keep reading.
It felt like the author had a particular image in their eye for how readers were meant to see things and was writing in such a way to make readers see exactly what they envisioned. And i mean exactly - leaving no room for interpretation and clogging up the story by focusing on how everything looked in detail.

This was such a cute and cosy story! I had the best time reading it and couldn't put it down so managed to finish it in 24 hours.
This is for people who love The Great British Bake Off and Legends and Lattes. It's a sweet story about found family, believing in yourself and going after your dreams.
While the plot is a bit predictable, I'm not mad at it as it is the book equivalent of a good cup of tea and a warm blanket on a cold day. It delivered exactly what I wanted, made me smile and left me wanting more.
Bonus points for a queer-normative world, which I always love to see.

104 🍰 A Fellowship of Bakers and Magic by J Penner📱⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Arleta, a magicless human, finds herself in a magical baking competition.
This book felt like a warm blanket. It was such a cute read. This book has lots of world building and a fun and diverse cast of characters, but is super low stakes. We’re following Arleta in a baking competition where she befriends Doli and Jez, some of her fellow competitors. There’s also Theo, an elf, who brought Arleta to the baking challenge. Arleta has to go on a self discovery journey. She’s really struggling with the idea of not being worthy due to her lack of magic. I am so excited to read the other stories in this series.
