Unbelievingly amazing. Beautifully written and an outstanding debut. The only downfall is that, much like with Hazel Grace and An Imperial Affliction I'm the Fault in Our Stars, I have many questions about what happens after the end. Like what happens to Henry? Does Viviane change her mind and marry Gabe? Does she change our of that goddamn dress? Does Ava marry Rowe?!

I need these answers D:

All I want is for this to be a duopoly. It ended to soon :(

Zajímavé čtení. Příběh byl velmi dojemný a opravdu mě zaujal od samého začátku. Rozhodně doporučuji všem, protože taková kniha je jenom jedna.

This book is so aptly named. It is strange, beautiful, and sorrowful. I did not anticipate to be so emotionally connected to this story. At times I could only take small doses or else be overwhelmed with emotion. At other times I spent long periods of time wrapped into the story - responding audibly with tears in my eyes. Truly a unique novel (and it would make a great movie!)

I thought I updated this when I finished the book almost immediately after starting. Such a beautiful and original story. Very quirky and whimsical. Loved every page!

Honestly torn between 4 or 5 stars, so I'll settle for 4.5

This book is so weird, whimsical, and filled with unforgettable characters in an ever, stranger story. Review to come bc I got a lot to say

Original and imaginative, The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender completely immerses us in generations of chaotic love within a family full of abnormalities. Never before have I read a novel as whimsical and beautiful as this one, the aspect of magical realism extremely compelling. The concept of this story was truly unique, and I kept finding myself unable to put the book down. It is very rare that I find a book written with as much elegance as this one, and this was only Leslye Walton's debut novel! Let's hope she writes another one!;)
