3.5/5 stars I don't know - I really enjoyed some of the stories and loved the Bowie-esque Lucifer but the story arc itself didn't seem to flow super well and I don't really understand how everything fits into the grander Sandman narrative considering there were some overlaps between this and The Dreaming. I think I'm probably missing something...

It was kind of hard to follow at first. Kind of dense with not any outright explanation. When it came together it made up for it. 5 hogs

While it was kinda annoying having a repeat story (the first story in this volume is also the first story in The Dreaming Vol. 1), I enjoyed this volume. Now, I haven't read any of the Sandman series (other than The Dreaming), so I know I missed a lot of references, but I got most of it, and I know how to google haha. The art was gorgeous, the story was intriguing, and the characters were interesting- William Blake was especially good, I liked him a lot. I look forward to Volume 2!

The art is good, the rest is awful. And it doesn't end so much as stop.

This book is amazing and the drawings are breathtaking. I loved it and I want to buy the hardcover to see the drawings at their best.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
