I really liked this (definitely more than her first book) but we need a term '-baiting' for when you're almost at the end and the MC dumps the boy and you're like yesss strong independent woman don't need a man coming-of-age amazing but then at the literal last page they still end up together in the generic ya genre way...

I received this through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Evie comes from a family of film stars. Her grandmother is known as first African American film stars, and her parents are stellar documentarians. Evie is a rising star and has landed an awesome opportunity with a famous director. However, when her "best friend" gets her drunk and films her impersonating/poking fun at the director, Evie loses everything. In an attempt to get back to the top, Evie has made a deal with her grandmother's enemy. Something terrible happened at a past award show between Evie's grandmother and her male costar/ex-husband and the two haven't talked since. Evie is given the opportunity to reprise her grandmother's role by the ex-husband, but she must first get her grandmother's blessing. Evie travels to New York City to talk with her grandmother, but she is quickly left alone with her grandmother's tenant, a gap-year musician, who is trying to make it big with his band. Evie and the musician, Milo, team up to travel across the city looking for her grandmother, as romance ignites.

This was a great concept. It was fluffy and just an enjoyable read. I needed more character development to make me more invested in the story. However, I will continue reading and recommending this author.

Kristina Forest knows how to pull you into her books and keep you there until the very last word. I love books about old Hollywood, actors, singers, entertainment people in general. And she took it on with perfection. Evie and Milo are so cute together, the slow burn was killing me. Evie & the relationship with her grandma Gigi was so sweet it made me miss my own grandma. I'm so excited for her next book coming out next year!

The third act conflict is pitiful and the character growth is skeptical.

It has been a few years since I read a YA that I could relate to! This one though instantly pulled me in and made me fall in love with the genre all over again!

I highly recommend getting this book if you used to love YA but just haven’t had a good one in a bit or If you love YA!

I had absolutely no idea what was this book about. I just knew that I love the cover. Well, lucky me it was GREAT.

I first thought that it would be a basic romance between two straights people but little dis I know that the love story is absolutely not the main topic of the book. It’s about trusting people, change your path, fail and move forward, acknowledge the possibility of new beginning.

I didn’t suspect it before but now I can confirm to the world: I live for books that have celebrity/famous actors in it. I LOVED that this book was a story about two generations of actors who are trying to deal with the burden of fame between the golden age of Hollywood till the era of Social medias.

I truly enjoyed this book, it was a light and gave me hope on so many things. I highly recommend it!

rep: black mc, gay side character.
tw: alcohol, online harassment.

A fun story of a young girl trying to discover who she is and make her way in the film industry. Evie Marie is a typical teenager in the fact that everything is full of drama, either making or breaking her potential career. While her immaturity bugged me for a bit, she definitely grew on me as I learned more about her and as she developed. Forest provides us with a cute, easy-to-read story, with a perfect ending.
