WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS MAKING ME CRY KRISTINA??!!!! This was another amazing book, and it really hit home about telling the truth instead of keeping secrets. I'm glad it worked out better for these guys though!
This had a double love story in one. I enjoyed the goose ride of finding grandma and finding out you have feelings for the boy that won’t leave you alone. Tying it into a movie was a cute take it on it. At times I feel the storyline was being drawn out, but I enjoyed having this as a Valentine’s Day read.
3.5 rounded up because it was cute, but ultimately lacked in substance a bit
Evie is the granddaughter of a famous actress, and she recently blew her acting dreams apart with one bad viral video. Ashamed and desperate to make it back to the center stage, Evie heads to Gigi’s and stumbles into Milo, a young musician Gigi has taken under her wing. Though Evie’s plans to convince Gigi to attend an award ceremony backfire, she and Milo spend a week together exploring NYC, learning what’s important in life, and discovering that media is a fickle friend.
This is Kristina Forest’s sophomore novel, and now I want to read her debut! The writing nailed the YA voice, the immediacy of everything was exhilarating and fun, Evie was deeply relatable despite her celebrity, and Milo was definitely swoon-worthy in a far less obvious way. I enjoyed every second of this. Most of all, I appreciated the openness and honesty between the characters, even though part of this narrative hinges on dishonesty. Not once did I want to bonk them on their heads and say “just TALK!”—so that was an immense relief. Evie’s growth and “I don’t have an answer but that’s okay” felt so right, too. You don’t need to have it all figured out yet!
If you’re in need of a feel-good read to put a smile on your face, look no further!

it was such a cute book but the plot wasn't executed as well as I'd hoped when I originally read the synopsis. I'm giving it three stars because the characters were likeable, however I found the storyline hard to follow.

Awww I really like this book and I wish I’d read it at a better time. I’m in a slump now and kind of depressed so for the first few chapters I didn’t immerse myself fully into the characters and it felt like a chore. But the story is actually good. It’s fun, has drama, engaging conflict and well written characters.
Even in my slump the book was able to engross me at some point and I eventually did get into it. Evie Marie’s struggle with trusting people felt so realistic and her reasons were totally valid too. Too many people either lied or held the truth from her. Even though it was frustrating at times for her to tell everybody no and being so reluctant to open herself up, I understood why. Her relationship with Milo is cute. I feel like I’m more excited for their new beginning at the end than the relationship they had in the book. I’m not mad at that. The journey was sweet and my wishful thinking of their potential feels even better.
Her relationship with her grandma is done fantastically. Evelyn Conaway is so realistic and her relationship with her granddaughter is so beautiful the love they share and have for each other is so cute. I totally relate to Evelyn’s disappearing acts when stress comes. I do it too. Her reasons for breaking up with James were more than valid. I actually believe Evelyn should have been even angrier at James trying to black mail Evie Marie but that’s beside the point. Her coming through for Evie Marie nearly made me shed a tear. That was beautiful truly. The theme of just starting somewhere as well as learning to trust and forgive people was handled really well too.
This book was actually really well written. I’m sure had I read it any other time it would have been a 5 star but even in my worst state this book was able to convince me to keep reading and kept me entertained.

Loved everything about this book. Loved how it revisited characters from I Wanna Be Where You Are. Loved the LOVE so much and the adventure and the betrayal. It all hit so hard!
