Anthologies are pretty hit or miss for me and this ended up being more of a miss. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't what I expected. I thought it'd be a deep dive into different horror movies to explain queer subtext or parallels. It was partially that, but it was also comparing these movies to what specifically happened in the author's life. I wanted a more general and relatable mix of essays just focused on movies and queerness as a whole. I can't relate to being pregnant or adopting a kid or cheating on my spouse, so I didn't really care about the personal aspects of the essays as a whole. I also think it would've been much better if the essays were written with the intention of being collected into this book rather than being written and published beforehand and just grouped together with some reformatting.
Overall, it was an interesting listen, but pretty forgettable. I'd recommend it that's looking for a filler book that likes the concept but doesn't need something amazing.

This was a really interesting read and I would very much recommend it. I always find it interesting to read other people's perspectives on things but this was another level. A book like this, that is purely queer reflections, opens your eyes to so many things you wouldn't necessarily think about otherwise. I really enjoyed the essay about Jaws, it's a fantastic conversation that really makes you think about how certain things are presented and perceived. I also really enjoyed the essays on Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play. Again, they added a depth to the film that I otherwise wouldn't have thought of. It was great to have such a variety of queer authors included, especially when reading about how various horror movies inspire and affect the writers. Overall, a fabulous collection of essays that I would recommend to everyone, even if you're not a horror fan, because it really is worth reading.
Some are much better than others but a lot of beautiful insight and gore. Lovely.

I loved this anthology, though it got repetitive at times and I wish the stories included more trans women and lesbians, but that's just me. There were a few stories that didn't resonate with me, but that's how anthologies go! That being said, there were a few essays that I related to heavily and made me emotional, and some brought up some points i hadn't thought of before! The relationship between being queer and horror movies is classic and clear, and I liked how some authors dove into that relationship, and how some just related the movies to their own lives.

Not what I was expecting when I started reading! I thought it was going to be about classic LGBT+ horror movies, not a queer analysis of classic horror movies. Still really interesting and eye opening to hear how others have interpreted these films. Really creative and I now have other movies to watch!
