I haven't read much science fiction, so it definitely took me a little while to get into the swing of this one. But I gotta say… the story is great, the characters are great, the writing is great, the plot is great. I'm a fan!

I did find the… science-y... aspect of the book a little challenging to wrap my head around, being somewhat unfamiliar with the genre; half the time I couldn't actually visualise what I was reading, which would briefly snap me out of the story a little as I tried to picture the scene. But after a while I found the solution was to... NOT wrap my head around it fully... I realised that it's not actually crucial for me to fully understand, or visualise, everything that exists in the story's universe - feeling the energy, atmosphere, and emotion of the story (combined with the badass characters and plot) was enough for me to enjoy the ride! Very cool read, have the other two books in the Sprawl Trilogy ready to go too!

Iconic, historic, inspirational but difficult to read. Filled with its own vocabulary, perspective changes, time shifts, and disruptions. The reading process was not enjoyable and the imagery, although well described, was difficult to picture and feel a part of. As the inspiration behind so many visual content like the matrix and cyberpunk, its no surprise that visual recreations of this book have been great. But, as a book, the descriptions and imagery just wasn't there enough for me to connect to.

Kind of hard to follow but it’s worth to push it through. Definitely a classic and I can see how it influenced sci-fi / cyberpunk in general
