I received a copy of eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a beautifully written ACOTAR retelling.
Now, this is something that I liked, but on the other hand, it was built up faster so it kinda missed that strong message that holds the whole ACOTAR storyline. Someone might dislike it because of it, but keep in mind, it is its own story by the end and you should read it as such.
The world-building is beautiful and maybe the strongest part of the book. The friendships are to die for and Remy and Hale are such a swooning couple. The story brings out a strong family vibe, it does flow a bit fast but in the end, they got your heart.
It reads easily and the story is empowered with diversity in a lot of fields.

I enjoyed this book and plan to continue the series. Though at times predictable, overall, it's a fun read. The story brings up several great topics. I'll touch on what I liked without any spoliers.
There's a strong emphasis that family can be anyone you choose to care for, not just those bound by bloodlines.
Characters are allowed both moments of their great strengths and yet also absolutely vulnerable in difficult moments. They each have ongoing struggles with past trauma. Healing is not linear. There are ups and downs. The other characters offer support without any judgment to each other, recognizing the pain in each other. The author does a good job addressing that.
Diversity is celebrated by the protagonists. Their agreement is that everyone is equal, regardless of genetics, having various magical abilities or none at all, and even between classes.
LGTBQ+ friendly. There is no discrimination against any sexuality or gender. It's all referenced in a way that is just as common as any other.
Just to note, many of the positive themes above are not shared by the antagonists. There's plenty of easy reasons to hate the villains.

Enjoyable but generic? I don’t mind predictable but there’s a scene that I swear was taken right from Harry Potter deathly hallows. Like…a litttttle more originality next time.

Solid fantasy book. I feel like the ending didn’t do enough for me, but the rest of the book was pretty good.
