A re-read and i loved it more than the first time around.
Dimitri and Rose are so perfect together, her fiery nature and his stoic manner make for and extremely compatible couple, she sees deeper into his true nature and he grounds her.
In this addition the different Moroi families and non royals discuss their Magic and the pro's to learning its use in a battle, and how not relying solely on the Dhamphirs may be the key to winning the relentless battle with the Strigoi.
My heart ached as Rose selflessly tries to save those around her, angry at Dimitri for pushing her away and Lissa for being to wrapped up in Christian, wanted to jump in book and hug her.

2nd read: Oct 2024, 3.5 ⭐️ I read this back to back to the first of the series and so the repeats and ways to help readers recall the story and details of the first felt lengthy. Also the love triangle felt a bit dragged on and I wish we made a bit more progress on Lissa’s development. Still a solid YA read though.
