Beast Queen was a fun follow up to The Goblin King. Once again, Dev got a satisfying arc and the mechanics introduced this time around we especially interesting, bringing in a tower defense/RTS vibe that I very much enjoyed. Unfortunately, the pacing wasn't quite as solid this time around as there were some larger peaks and valleys. Still, overall, a very fun read and a satisfying conclusion to second book, which isn't easy to pull off.

I never thought I’d love a game rpg lit so much. It has all the humor of Virdi’s other works and all the familiarity of a thousand video game set ups. I look forward to his next novel.
I downloaded the audiobook Friday and Finished it by Monday. This was a very fun listening experience. Jeff Hayes' performance was excellent and constant with his performance from book one. The established rules in this LitRPG world are followed and are added upon to expand the world. This time around I could have used fewer status updates but that is a very minor issue. I liked the development of the main character. The ending was satisfying but it may have wrapped up too nicely to leave room for a sequel. I do enjoy R.R. Virdi's writing and his ability to characterize through dialogue both internally and interpersonally. His ability to imbue a fictional world with contemplations about life is very interesting. I will gladly continue to seek out his novels.
