I’ve never read a book that was written so straightforwardly, I think. I like it.

I diagnose Beth Harmon as autistic.

This story is definitely intense and totally hooked me in from the start. I know very little about chess but this book makes want to learn to play and to understand the game like Beth does. Beth is a very interesting character and in some parts I could totally see myself in her. An amazing book!

Chess games are described well, but apart from that the plot development is uneven. The beginning feels rushed. Characters are rather shallow, there isn't much development or even deep character description. A few plot points feel underdeveloped. I like the concep but the book felt rushed to me.
