I feel like Emily Carroll is well versed in writing these kinds of endings which are infuriatingly confusing. Infuriatingly, because they fit the feeling of estrangement, yearning and sad fear so damn well.

Horrifying and beautiful. Horrifyingly beautiful? Or maybe beautifully horrifying. Had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. I really liked the creativity with text and actually utilizing the comic panel form to add to the story.

Wasn't a fan of the artwork. The main character was boring (but I think that was the intention) and the ending was confusing. Not for me.

Emily Carroll's style is so distinctive and gorgeous - there are some pages that I could stare at for hours and keep finding something new.

The ending is so abrupt at first I felt cheated, but after sitting with it, I love that it's ambiguous. Who's to know who's telling the truth? Does it really matter by the end? What IS truth? This graphic novel is going to leave my thinking for a long time

Emily Carroll's artwork and talent for portraying the macabre are so excellent. I truly could not have guessed where the story was going to go, and I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved the horrors of repressing yourself coming out as violence, specifically repressing your homosexuality. Just a gorgeous read and a truly wild ending.

Drawings are gorgeous, sucks you in, twist at the end…. But too sad and scary for me personally.
