I was really excited about this book and thought I would like it, but it was so hard to get into and I wasn't interested in the main characters. The one POV chapter from the prince was interesting and I wish we had POV chapters from Julian and the prince consistently.

This was a fun read in an immersive world. The magic system itself was inventive and I was sucked into the setting with the characters. Speaking of the characters, our main character Wren was brash and bold, a captivating POV. I loved the hesitant friendship that forms between the three main leads, bonding over their situations and
shared background of having shitty families
. The plot itself was delightfully twisty, even if it was a tad predictable. I am very eager to read the next book.
Btw: fuck all the Bonesmiths except Wren, boy do they all suck so bad. And yes it is obvious her cousin will get a redemption arc so I guess I will have to get over how thoroughly she irked me.
