this book was mid 😐 only picked up in the last 20%. the twists were okay at best, but for a thriller it was really slow 🥱 mad me lose interest halfway through.
*Flicker in the Dark* is an outstanding debut that had me hooked from the very first page. Stacy Willingham crafts a suspenseful and atmospheric thriller that is impossible to put down. The protagonist, Chloe Davis, is a compelling and complex character whose dark past and present collide in a chilling mystery. The plot twists and turns kept me guessing until the very end, and the vivid descriptions made me feel like I was right there in the small Louisiana town.
Willingham's writing is sharp and engaging, and she masterfully weaves together a story of secrets, trauma, and the shadows that haunt us. This is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers who enjoy a well-paced and intricately plotted story. *A Flicker in the Dark* is an impressive and haunting debut that leaves a lasting impression. I can't wait to see what Stacy Willingham writes next!

I almost DNF’d this book because the first few chapters were slow and incredibly boring. I enjoyed it more as the book went on, although the main character is quite annoying with most of her choices and actions. Lots of twists towards the end, I thought I figured out the original killer (which I did) but then I was gaslit into thinking it was someone else. Then the whole truth reveal didn’t make much sense, because how do you just ‘convince’ someone to become a copycat? “He made me do it.” Like, what?? The middle of the story was solid, it’s just a shame that the ending fell flat.

3.75-ish? This one was hard to rate. It had me hooked but the last 25% had a lot of twists and many questions unanswered.
