This was a good look at Hedy Lamar's life. I didn't know much about this interesting woman. I would have liked it to be a bit more detailed but it was interesting none the less. I would like to read more of Benedict's books. I like that she is highlighting women who deserved more credit in their lives.

I’ve read several of this author’s books and this one seemed a bit off. Much of the book focused on her first marriage and life in Austria. The themes were repetitive in this section and the author missed the opportunity to explore in depth the political struggles of the time. Instead, the author circles and circles around the theme of a woman trapped in a marriage of control.
When Heddy made her way to America, the writing focused on the trivial. I was 3/4 through the book and was still waiting to see the scientific/inventor side of Heddy. Then these topics were tossed into the book, given a short stir, we were left with the stereotype of a beautiful woman using her beauty and fame as her calling cards.
I finished the book feeling that it could have been so much more than it was.
