Ruby is the final installment in this series and true to the name the ruby is the final stone that Dara and her men need to acquire inorder to bring down her evil uncle. James is intent on destroying all of Silvia for his own twisted reasons and more than anything else he wants Dara dead. He came close to ending the life of her dear friend, but thanks to the determination of her friends they were able to save her, but just barely. But James isn't finished. The land and the people are dying. The question is...why? What is happening and what can they do to stop it? Can they figure it out before it's too late?
Ruby is fast-paced, engaging and hard to put down. The author gives the reader a bit of recap on the previous books final moments, and then surges forward into this book. Dara and her men and friends are taking a break, but they gradually start getting together to train and once again prepare for the war that is coming. While I did feel that the characters seem to be a bit too fixated at times on being extremely physical with each other (yes, sex lol) I enjoyed the storyline overall. I like the blooming relationships between other characters as they feel the connection that binds them. As usual each chapter gives the reader a different perspective from each of the main characters the story follows. There are surprises, twists and steamy situations. The scenes are brief, but they are there.
There isn't much that I don't like about this book. The author kept me engaged all the way to the end. I applaud the author for having most of the characters grow and develop over the stories told. I felt that the first story was slow to get going, but the following two books have greatly improved and the pace was good.
If you have read the first two books in this series then I highly recommend you grab this book and dive in. You'll want to know how it all ends and what all it takes for the winner to come out on top.
