Ana Walters - is our heroine and she hasn’t had it great. She lost her father during a mall shooting at age ten. Her mother remarried when she was 15, to Bob. Her mom died due to an accident and within a weeks time her Stepbrother, Doug starts raping her. Her Stepfather does nothing as he is drinking so much and then disappears early on in the story. About halfway through the book, Doug gives her to a drug dealer, Hunter to pay back a debt. She is used again by Hunter to gain information on what Doug is doing. What I can’t figure out is what Ana doesn’t grow a pair and fight back? She doesn’t tell, she doesn’t try to escape Doug, she leaves the house with Logan but never once tells him what Doug is doing. THATS CRAY CRAY!!! To add insult to injury, Doug injections her with drugs and then she’s gang raped.

Doug Mitchell - Anti-hero and boy oh boy does he have problems. Once his Stepmother dies, he preys on his Stepsister. Rapes her on repeat and no one stops him. Then he steals from Hunter! BIG NO NO!! This is when things get out of control.

Hunter - he makes a deal with Ana after one night to keep tabs on Doug. However, Hunter doesn’t really understand the horrors that Ana goes through at Doug’s hand until she almost dies. Hunter does save her and she does live and goes to San Diego to start over. Eventually, Hunter finds her. I love Hunter for her. He’s so patient with her.

Side note...can anyone explain why the Stepfather’s name started as Bob and then changed to Bill?!?!
