I started this book completely blind, not knowing ANYTHING about it. No description can do this justice. Not even this review. This is the HARDEST review I’ve ever done, while also being privileged to come across a book like this. If I could give it 5 more stars I would.
I listened to Jason Reynolds (the author) narrate the book on audio. His dictation is beyond compare and reads it like a novel rather than the beat of poetry. I’ve also seen the word on the page, which is just as profound, if more so.

I listened to the audiobook that was read by the author and I loved it. I loved the story and I loved the verse that he told it in. It was so powerful and raw and real. The ending just blew me away.
