И там даже есть отсылка к книге, прочитанной мною до этого ([b:Le Mariage de Figaro|28178840|Le Mariage de Figaro|Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1487669674s/28178840.jpg|50294746]), и к книге, которую я сейчас читаю ([b:The Song of Roland|103390|The Song of Roland|Unknown|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1520255283s/103390.jpg|2906638])!!!!

To Reason
(Illuminations X: À Une Raison)

A tap of your finger on the drum looses all sounds and begins the fresh harmony.

One step of yours is the rising of new men and their forward march.

Your face turns away: new love! Your face turns back – the new love!

‘Change our fate, eliminate the plagues, beginning with Time’ these children sing to you. ‘Breed, no matter where, the substance of our fortunes and wishes,’ they beg.

Arrival from forever, you who’ll depart everywhere.

Maybe poetry just isn't for me, or maybe one needs to be much more intimate with the poet's life to fully understand the poems, but I only made it halfway through this collection before I gave up, knowing I wasn't getting anything out of the mesh of words. I am not a big fan of poetry to begin with, so this was probably not the best way to try to get into it.

unpopular opinion but Rimbaud >>>>> Baudelaire;

Cartierul comercial e o arenă de circ, cu galerii și arcade, construită într-un singur stil. Nu se văd prăvălii. Dar zăpada de pe drum e strivită;

I've never really read poetry that evokes such an empty yet alive feeling so consistently. It's interesting how these words and ideas come together in such minimalistic and sparse ways. The use of purposely ambiguous prose was interesting, and I'm sure knowing more about Rimbaud would open another avenue to explore. Either way, this seems like something you should read multiple times. Very good.
