Im 2.5ing this one......

I didn't get Rae, she's hopelessly in love with Conn yet pushes or runs away from him.... i don't understand how it could ever really turn around if she is that damaged and second guessing herself all the time.

Conn's character was really likable, a gentleman with a kinky side..... altho apart from spanking the book was pretty vanilla.....

im in two minds if to carry on.... will see.....

The story it self was amazing as were the characters especially the grandma:)
The story was very sweet cute a little sad at times.
I probably would have givin it 5 stars if it actaully had more erotica to it....I didnt feel it was all that steamy just not enough sexual contact for an erotica book!
But it is worth reading for the story itself!

Finished this installment at almost 4am.

I couldn't got enough of Conn and Rae. I couldn't put the book down. I loved every word.

Review for the first part, Letters to an English Professor:

I live for student/teacher romances. This one was slightly different but I loved it more for it.

Conn is my newest book boyfriend. I just love him, he's everything.

I've had this book for forever on my kindle and every time I saw it i said I'd read it but, I put it off for one reason or another. I should smack myself.

This story has some D/s dynamic. Of course it also ends in a cliffhanger, but, thank you box set. Anywho, back to the D/s dynamic, it was written nicely into the story, explained and described perfectly, more so in part 2- Dear Sir, I'm Yours, the conclusion of Conn and Rae's story.
You can tell in the writing the author did her research.
Her characters her intoxicating, I couldn't get enough of them, I gobbled up every word, every page without pause, I mean, it's almost 4 in the morning and I'm about to jump into the 3rd book Hurt Me So Good.
I adore Miss Belle she made me laugmelon and hard with her quirks and antics, loved the touch of supernatural that was thrown in, it wasn't over done, and definitely not enough to consider this a paranormal romance.

Joely has quickly become a favorite author, every book is unique. Her characters shine bright and her story are so well balanced, they have enough of everything. And they are very satisfying.

Again I am left wondering...what makes a book erotica? This particular story does involve the "kinky shit" by its own admission, however it is really just a romance. In fact, the sex that is included in this story is much more tame than some I have read in main stream romance. There are many authors I have now read in the erotica world who should be famous and making $$, but instead are lost in the erotica world. Though perhaps they are writing straight forward romance as well and are really making $$.

A forbidden love between student and professor goes a little too far for the student and she runs. Due to some meddling by a wonderful grandma they reunite 5 years later, and the sparks are still there. I liked this story of found love and redemption. Nice.

Let me just say that I stayed up until 1 am to finish this book. I loved how it talked about trust and a man and woman trying to figure out that they wanted to be a Dom and Sub. It was so awesome. I would totally read more by Joely Sue Burkhart. :-)

I think if there hadn't been all the unnecessary Lifetime movie of the week elements added it would have been a million times better, because then we could have watched Rae and Conn figuring each other out without all the unnecessary sidelines (Rae's ex-husband, who seemed like a vanilla guy then turned into crazy controlling stalker dude, the housekeeper's crazy controlling husband who gets killed because he's a diabetic and she made him brownies, the sexual predator mayor who somehow doesn't know who Rae is even though she's a business owner in the town, which reminds me... how do Rae and Conn not know that each other live there? And how is the college town where Conn works far away and then suddenly close enough for him to commute to?)

Yes, anyway, other than the inconsistencies, the weird side-stories/filler and Rae's all-over-the-place responses to Conn, I did mostly like this story. There are enough elements that work that make me willing to give the author another shot, anyway, even though I'm not sure that I'd ever read this particular story again.

Edit to add: I re-read this after thoroughly enjoying books two and three in this series. I enjoyed it more the second time through. The problems I mentioned earlier didn't bother me as much this time through, although I was more bothered by the dynamics Rae and Conn's student-teacher relationship. I'm glad I read it again, but I still much prefer books 2 and 3.
