I don’t like the trope, but the concept of how magic works is interesting. Also seeing Lou fight against a patriarchal society is a great time.
So well done! First few chapters were hard to keep up with but once I got about 100 pages in I was hooked! The characters were witty, vibrant and fully developed. The story was interesting and the pacing was quick enough to keep you engaged but slow enough that all the jagged peices of the puzzle slowly start to make themselves apparent. The love story was SO SATISFYING! The two main characters had some intense chemistry, and their relationship felt organic and not rushed. Overall I completely understand the hype, it's totally worth it! Cant wait for the next book!

I adored the last 3/4 of the book - I couldn’t put it down. But the first quarter was slooooow (for me), but that was because I was mourning my last book. I am obsessed with this world and can’t wait to get my hands on book two!
