Eye-
It was so good! Good pace, good characters and yes, an open ending but one that I found really believable for this story.

I am so shocked at how much I disliked this book. I was so sure I would like it! The cover is beautiful and the synopsis on the back sounded interesting enough! And yet…
I could not connect with any of these characters. I felt so confused and frustrated by their decisions!!!
The plot was not interesting enough to keep me reading. I only pushed forward because I hate not finishing a book more than I disliked reading this one. And then it finally ends, and I feel bamboozled!!! This book needs 60 more pages or SOMETHING because this ending gave me NOTHING.
I haven’t read anything else by this author, but I will also say that I don’t think the writing style did a whole lot for me. In certain passages, it was choppy and less straightforward to convey certain emotions or states of mind, which I get, but it didn’t strengthen the novel in my opinion. It was just… there.
I read The Grace Year before this and loved it, so I guess i started this book with high hopes (I had seen both novels being compared to Lord of the Flies, plus both novels were centered around teenage girls). I wish I’d read them the other way around. ☹️
