Colum's hangup over marrying Kenna got to be a little overdone IMO. Still greatly liked these two as a couple.

I received a copy of this book from netgalley for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Highland Hearts series that I've had the pleasure of reading and reviewing. Ms Greyson has a way of taking you back to the thirteenth century Highlands that I've only previously seen in the big name historical romance authors. This book was a delight to read.
We start out with Kenna, sister to Trulie (who has already moved back to thirteenth century Scotland) and twins Mairi and Lilia (who live in twentyfirst century Kentucky), learning from her grandmother that it is her turn to come back to thirteenth century Scotland, and she has one week to get her affairs in order. Those affairs include watching after the twins and running their herbal beauty shop, where they sell mostly bath and body products, and some essential oils. Kenna is by no means ready to make the move, but when Granny speaks, you do as she says. Granny even sends a chaperone for the twins, Eliza who is a thirteenth century witch that was displaced by Granny's evil twin.
When Kenna makes it to Scotland, Trulie is in the process of giving birth to her daughter, so Kenna has Colum, who was sent to meet her, rush her back to the keep to assist her sister. Along the ride back, she starts falling in love with him. But don't worry, they don't have an easy go of it, especially when Kenna decides to push him to set a date for their wedding by making him jealous, only to be kidnapped by a man looking for his third wife in ten or so years. Ronan, Chieftain Sutherland, is a nice enough man, he just isn't Colum, whom Kenna already loves. The pace really starts to pick up on the trip to Ronan's holding, not that it was terribly slow before that, and many things happen with this love triangle that will influence their decisions down the line, especially Kenna's. Of course I can't tell you any of those things without spoiling the second half of the book, but let's just say I went from 60% to 90% on my kindle with feeling like I'd only read a chapter or two. It goes extremely fast at that point! In fact, I read the whole book in about one day, which I haven't done with a full length novel in a while. My reading has slowed down considerably, but this book brought that speed reading ability back to me.
I would recommend this book to any fan of historical romances, especially if you like just a hint of other in your story. If you are a fan of time travel, this book definitely will have what you need. And while it can be read as a stand alone book, you will get a much more in depth experience if you read My Highland Lover first, which is Trulie's story and the first in the Highland Hearts series.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review!
Kenna is a modern day young lady and Colum is a 13th century warrior... and their fates just happen to be intertwined. Colum is the womanizer of the clan and Kenna is exactly what is needed to put an end to his ways... too bad they are both stubborn! While they grow close to each other, her stubbornness and his pride gets in the way and then there's Chieftain Sutherland... who is looking for a bride! Love the story... even when Kenna was driving me madder than Colum (yes, I admit... she frustrated me with some of her decision... but hey, they say love makes you do crazy things!) This story was superbly written, with a way to see more of Chieftain Sutherland again. I look forward to the next installment!

My Highland Bride (Highland Hearts #2) by Maeve Greyson
Loveswept, 2015
Romance (Historical/Paranormal); 298 pgs
First Sentence: "Have ye e'er seen such a lovely set 'o bosoms?"
Kenna Sinclair knew her time would come to jump back into time to the thirteenth century Scotland where she would join her eldest sister and grandmother, only she didn't know it would be so soon. She isn't exactly happy to be leaving behind the modern conveniences she's grown used to. Still, fate is fate and her grandmother says it must be so--and so it will be. The last thing she expects though is to find herself attracted to the clan's man-at-arms who clearly has had his way with many women. Colum Garrison is just as taken with her, of course, and in his heart, knows no other woman will do ever again.
This is the second book in the Highland Hearts series, but my first book by the author. It reads quite well as a stand alone, although I always think with books like this I wish I had read the first to get more of a background, especially when it involves paranormal powers. The author offers some idea in this installment so I wasn't feeling completely lost. It seems the Sinclair women all have some sort of special ability beyond just the ability to time walk, and for Kenna that means she can read minds--and sometimes manipulate thoughts. Surprisingly, she does very little of that in the novel.
I admit to being a bit bored with the first quarter of the book. Colum and Kenna meet, fall in love and know they are meant to be together--it's fate, after all. Kenna wants the big gorgeous oaf to propose to her, but he's decided he can't. At least not until he can offer her a proper home. You have to respect a guy who wants to do it right. Only, a new suitor visits the castle, and he will not take no for an answer. Then, things pick up. Thank goodness because it seemed like everything was a little too easy for the hero and heroine.
I liked Kenna quite a bit. She's an independent thinker, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to go after it--or him. Colum seems like a really nice guy--strong and fierce in a fight, and loyal.
After reading My Highland Bride, I cannot say I am especially interested in going back and reading the first in the series. However, knowing what and who will be in the third book . . . Well, that's a different story. The character that most interested me in this novel will be appearing in that one--and I may have to see how that works out.
