I’m somewhere between 3 and 4 stars on this.

Joey thinks her life needs a drastic reboot after her fiancée breaks up with her at their surprise engagement party, so she sells her furniture and packs her dog to move an hour away from home. [Okay, I’m mocking this a bit. An hour? That’s an everyday drive where I live. This is not the big deal that Joey makes it out to be.] So now she’s in the city without a sofa and without any friends and her job is remote. All this explains why she’s at the laundromat on a weekend night, where she sees a really hot woman talking to her bag. City life, eh?

When Joey’s dog gets sick, she quickly finds a vet. Turns out the new vet is the crazy woman talking to her bag, Kendall. There’s banter, there are jokes, there’s laundry to exchange. And somehow Joey has a new friend. A really wonderful and hot friend, who according to Kendall’s friend is perpetually single by choice. So turns out Kendall has some baggage too.

This is a really cute novel. Joey and Kendall come together in what feels like a really organic way and decide they’re going to have big and small adventures together—things they’ve been putting off or scare them but that they want to do anyway. I liked their journey. I enjoyed going on their adventures with them. I liked watching two people who challenge and support each other fall in love.

A solid 3.5 that I’m rounding up just because.

This was a cute, fluffy read recommended by a friend. Definitely outside of what I normally read, since I tend not to be a romance reader, but it was a fun change. I loved that Kendall was a vet - I thought that was a cute addition to the story (and frankly loved that both protagonists had real jobs that normal people would actually have). Joey needs better friends though.

Full of humour, made me laugh out loud several times.
The two leads are loveable, and their story arcs believable.

The one thing I absolutely did not like was the casual use of the term "spaz". It's not just ableist, it's downright horrible and cruel.
I get what the author was trying to convey, but I'm sure she could have achieved the same result without resorting to hurtful slur.

This is a cute romance between a 42-year-old veterinarian, who has become commitment-phobic since her divorce, and a 28-year-old translator, who has moved to town after her fiancee breaks off their engagement. Joey and Kendall are adorable, as are all of the animal characters in the book. They awkwardly negotiate the friends/dating/relationship dilemma, and Kendall has difficulty balancing her work and private lives. The book seems very real, and truly heartwarming.

Funny and sweet! Age-gap/friends-to-lovers. You’re guaranteed many laughs if you read something by Bryce! Perfect book for a relaxing read.

A cute, fun read. Lots of light hearted humour, some reluctance by both Joey and Kendall to explain their feelings and actions and lots of kitties , doggoes and a memorable sex shop scene.
