Goddamn.

I totally relate to everyone’s feelings being dictated and reflected in the nature of this novel, Mary Shelley was real with all of that. Every time Victor and bestie met up it was super shitty weather and isolated…. I think we know what that means.

The writing was really beautiful and descriptive, especially of the different settings. I am super intrigued by the lack of specific physical description of the creature. I think it allows for the imagination to really run wild with what this creature looks like and how Victor made it.

How did he not know that bestie was gonna kill Elizabeth on the wedding night?? Victor destroyed the woman he was making so it’s pretty obvious that bestie was gonna destroy Victor’s lady friend. I was however very surprised by some of the other plot points.

It had been a while since I'd read anything classic-ish, so I thought I'd try the original sci-fi novel. Since my previous exposure to the story had been based on various movies, I didn't know what to expect. The author pretty much leaves the details of the creature up to the reader's imagination, and what you are left with is a psychological thriller. Basically Dr. Frankie is a big whiner who should have known better and makes the wrong decision at every point in the story.

All in all, not bad, but I would have liked some more details on the creature to satisfy my geekness. All of the electricity, dark and stormy nights, Igor, "IT'S ALIVE!!!", etc. was all from the land of Hollywood, and I really think it added some needed oomph to the story :)
