The story arc was okay. Dialogues at places were so bland, something uncharacteristic of Mike Carey. Will be interesting to see how the other story lines which got generated in this segments develop in the next few volumes.
Delightful. Love that they let Lucifer almost be secondary in the various stories so he can enigmatically unfold. As a tarot person, the fact the cards didn’t really match the system was slightly annoying.
Overall a good first volume, looking forward to vol 2

Gorgeous as the Morningstar! I have at least half of it in paperback and can't wait to get the rest!
I recently became addicted to the Lucifer TV show, so I thought I would check out the source material. While I can see how the show is inspired by the graphic novels, the tone and themes are pretty different. The show is much lighter, with a lot more humor and romance. I found this graphic novel compelling, with great story telling and suspense, but the themes are much more grim and violent, with a focus on complex supernatural powers and threats. Lucifer himself is more cunning and ruthless in this rendition--less of a charming hedonist and more of a master manipulator. It was a good read, but I think I'll stick to the show.
Starts much slower than I remembered, but reaches its stride by the end.
first half excellent, loved the art.
second half was alright, hated the art.
