I’m not quite sure if I agree with this book being out in the world with the way it was executed. Sure, it’s a work of Fiction. And sure, it can be deemed as horror….but, also there may be misconceptions for some readers that this could in fact, fuel sadistic natures in certain people who may learn of this books existence. I definitely think the Authors note of being told that this story is considered “extreme” and “triggering”, as well as claiming that these thoughts are daily norms for them, is more on the side of irresponsible of them as an Author. I personally wouldn’t consider this story “triggering” as I would consider it positive reinforcement for harmful actions, without giving the solid foundation of this being a fictional story.

Good evening, fellow denizens of the dark,

I find myself once again ensnared by the twisted tales of Rayne Havok, and let me tell you, "The Boy" left me reeling with unanswered questions. But fear not, dear readers, I won't spoil the experience for you. Remember, I'm not here to play the role of your mother or control your choices—Google exists for a reason.

Now, onto the real meat of the matter. J and I delved into this book together, a ritual we've come to cherish. There's something about experiencing the darkness alongside a companion that amplifies the thrill. Trust me, it's worth a try.

As for "The Boy," let me give you a taste without spoiling the feast. It's a story of primal urges and the lengths one will go to satisfy them. A man, driven by an insatiable need, stumbles upon a solution—a solution that involves another soul, equally consumed by their own desires. It's a journey into darkness that had me cringing in disgust yet unable to look away.

But whether you choose to devour this tale or not, know this: I relished every moment of it.

Yours in the throes of madness,
E

The Boy is certainly on par for the books that Rayne Havok likes to write. It's another violent, gruesome, and shocking novella that leaves no boundary untouched. This was a decent read overall, I just wanted more of a build-up to understand why the MC is compelled to do the things he craves. The ending also left the door wide open for a sequel, so fingers crossed we get one.

1.5 stars.
This was plenty messed up, but there was little to no plot. The main character, Chop clearly has some kind of issue which could have been a great foundation for a longer and more thoughtful novel, however at the end of the book all I’m left knowing is there’s something severely wrong with him. The character of Travis is an interesting idea, and once again would have been so interesting to have a deeper understanding of. Sociopathic kids make for a great horror story, and I feel it was a missed opportunity.
This is my second book by the author, and both novels have been very extreme but lacking in the plot department. It seems like there’s characters (who are occasionally briefly introduced) and then an event such as an assault or murder and that’s been it so far. I don’t think this author is for me, especially considering some of their responses to negative reviews online

I like the idea of a home invasion but I don’t think it was executed as well as it could’ve been. Moved waaay to fast in my opinion and I would’ve like for it to be a little longer. Fucked up indeed. Wasn’t good but it was bad either. Quick read at least.
