I read this when it came out in 1997. I had a new born son and a two year old daughter. I absolutely related to this book. As women, we often submerge ourselves in taking care of our children and home and then when they are grown, we find that our identities left and we don't even know when. Also, the main character realizes that her family doesn't know her either...she is not even sure that they will be able to tell authorities what color her eyes are. I love Tyler's insight into women's issues and her ability to get that across to the reader so eloquently.

I found this book difficult to put down, but one needs to be in a certain place in their life to truly appreciate it.
The main character was not very likable, and the ending was less than fulfilling.
much of the premise of this book feels unbelievably quaint for the 199os
Found the book to be slow moving and boring. Once I realized I didn't care what happened to the main character, I put it down once and for all.
I read this years ago for bookclub and liked it a lot and then we reread it for bookclub and had an excellent discussion especially now that we’re farther down the road of Motherhood.
