Wow what an intricate creepy book. Did not expect the plot twists at all and I love when I can look back and see the little clues. Really really good. The illustrations just added so much to it and made it feel real.

Author doesn’t attempt to hide his vile politics and the writing is not on the level of an adult novel. Also, for a book that’s marketed as horror, it’s not scary.

Well that was a trip, I kept thinking I knew what was going on and boy, was I wrong. I liked this quite a bit. It does have its issues, but the fact that it was a well written, unique story, pretty much held my attention. I also appreciated that it was presented with artwork within, that was refreshing. Overall I enjoyed it.

 Wow.

Now that I got that out of the way, Disclaimer: I received a copy through a GoodReads giveaway. Thank you to Flatiron Books for the opportunity to read this book.

At first when I saw a female proteaginous written by a male author, I got a bit apprehensive. But bravo to Jason Rekulak. I was able to connect immediately with her, forgive her for her flaws and get into her corner. The novel is ingenious. From the use of graphic elements to further immerse the reader, as if they are present and unearthing the clues alongside Mallory, to the storyline. Where this story ends up, I was astonished and nearly tearing through the last few chapters.

Highly recommend.
