I’m not sure whether or not I like this first volume better than the first episode of the Netflix series—I like the pace it clips along at, how streamlined and to the point it is, and that it kinda reminds me of SAILOR MOON in that it’s on a mission to capture a particular vibe and tell a very narrow, quick, easily digestible story. It definitely keeps you turning pages.

I think the Netflix series’s choices when it comes to representation were better, and I’m curious about the amount of depth it will get into, since it seems like it’s aiming to dive much deeper into these characters than the comic does. I didn’t feel too starved for substance except in Vanya’s case—this first arc barely fleshes her out, whereas the Netflix series seems to want to really center her character and take her development at a slow burn. I dig that.

Spaceboy’s design is much more compelling in the comic. I like the dialogue better in it, I think? And I thought the little touches at the ends of each issue were cool. Just like with the Netflix series, I’m left with the general impression that I just want to know more about these people, and I think that’s a good impression. So, a 3.5 on the 4 end for this one!

Strong enough for me to want to read the next issue but Vol 1 didn't get me as hooked as I had hoped for!

For once, I act think I prefer the TV show... Will read the next issues regardless!

very fun to read, compelling already in its premise, interesting to see the different choices made in the comics vs. the series, in love with the art style, the comic flows very nicely (LOVE the bits where the dialogue transitions directly into chapter titles), compelling and interessting characters that I do hope get more time to be fleshed out in the comics (because simply due to number of characters and the fast moving plot there hasn’t been a whole lot of that so far), also really appreciated the extra concept art and bonus comics at the end.

There is a cool premise and lots of cool ideas here, but everything is so jumbled and rushed at the beginning then too slow right after. It just didn't work for me. And to top it off, I also wasn't a fan of the art style. I'm pretty sure I won't be reading more of this series.
