Lock Every Door

Riley Sager

Jules Larsen's has a new job as an apartment sitter. There's only two rules - no nights spent away from the apartment and no disturbing the other residents. She is now staying at the Bartholomew, one of Manhattan's most high-profile and mysterious buildings. There's a girl there named Ingrid who reminds Jules of the sister she lost eight years ago. Ingrid confides that the Bartholomew is not what it seems. Jules doesn't think much of it until the next day when Ingrid disappears.

This one was a page-turner. Lots of weird, spooky things are going on in that big, beautiful apartment building. What secrets are within its walls? Where are these girls disappearing to and why is it happening? Oh, the suspense! Loved the gargoyle. Another well-written, engrossing read from Riley Sager. I can't wait for more!

Thanks to Netgalley and Dutton for an ARC.

I’m a big fan of Riley Sager to begin with but this book was incredible.

Good grief that was absolutely ridiculous.

Some rando apartment sitter just happens to be a match to be an organ donor for some rich lady? And then someone else will benefit from her liver too? #eyeroll

Not groundbreaking, but enjoyable and kept me interested throughout.

I like the “locked in” type mystery - in this case an apartment building. I pictured the building from Only Murders in the Building, but smaller, the whole time.

I liked the main character’s storyline of her missing sister— it wasn’t directly applicable to the story- but I liked that it gave her motivation and helped round her out. I appreciated how she was down on her luck, but it all made sense and truly made us empathize with a girl who could be any of us.

I kept guessing throughout who the culprit may be, and it was a satisfying conclusion.

It was a great road trip listen.
