Oh boy… where do I even start?!

I kept putting off reading this because I was so curious, everyone said this was the best of the three books and both MC and their hate dynamic were so appealing to me (especially Lucian) that my hopes kept getting higher and higher. I guess that was my mistake.

It’s not that I didn’t like the book. I was very interested in how the murder mystery subplot would play out, but the romance itself felt like... like 30-year-olds acting like teenagers. My irritation peaked when Lucian finally realised (after 400 pages) that he loved Sloane, and almost instantly decided BY HIMSELF that they were in a relationship, without any sort of communication whatsoever. What the fuck. And Sloane, there are only so many times you can comment on 1) Lucian’s dick and 2) your bestfriends’ husbands’ amazing butts without me rolling my eyes. Plus, WHAT DO YOU MEAN they are getting married and having kids so fast just because the biological clock is ticking ?!?

It was 400 pages of entertaining nothingness and then it all happened in the last 100 pages. At least the subplot didn’t disappoint, and I loved how everything about Anthony Hugo from the first and second books came together in this one! And the hate dynamic was really well written in my opinion, the “not hating” part was the mess

Okay, so there was A TON of build up and anticipation for this book and it just let me down with the plot, I wanted and needed more for their love story

However, the hotel scenes were great

I’d really like to give this book 0 stars, but I’m giving a few pity points on account where there were SOME good lines and the main character is a pretzel loving librarian which is personal to me. This being said most of this book was AWFUL in my opinion. The entire relationship revolves around Sloane and Lucian who are extremely the problematic the entire time. If miscommunication could be personified it would be them. Like the entire book is just them making the most awful decisions and being with each other for the sake of having control or wanting someone to lust over. Also there are so many  plot points that are just so random, sidelined, or even rushed to the point where they feel thrown in there because we have to wrap them up soon. Like buzzwords. You’d think for an almost 600 page book you’d be left satisfied with a complete plot but nope. This one still managed to feel very lacking

3.75⭐️ almost a 4⭐️ but it was kind of slow and repetitive at sometimes and near the end the part with Wylie and the judge seamed unnecessary, overall though I think this was my favorite book in the series. Book the knockemount series and the twisted series did the epilogues SO good. Showing how big and happy their families are make me shed tears
