Omg I got so emotional reading this. At this point you’re so invested with the characters who’ve we’ve followed since book 1. Even though there are more books the main story arc is over and it’s always hard saying goodbye to characters you love. There were quite a few scenes that made me super emotional. Charles was amazing in this book I loved him. And Lilly is such a strong beautiful soul. I adore her. I loved the suspense, the intrigue, the fight scenes (there’s even a fencing scene? Yes please), the romance, the plot twists, the flash backs were great. Omg this book was just so good. It has to be my favourite of the series (so far).

This a hold your breath kind of story. The end to everything is finally near and it is full of shocking twists that make you hold your breath and moments that make you laugh. I never saw any of the twists coming and their instant passion leap off the pages. Slowly all the details of what happened all those years ago come out to explain why he hates them. You will not know everything until the end because he is twisted and you feel sorry for him at times while hating him. I absolutely loved that the wives figured out one of her secrets and the plan they set in motion. I laughed at Emily and her way of chaperoning. I also can perfectly picture him carrying her up the stairs while looking around.

Lily is full of surprises from her training to who she really. I was completely shocked by her and loved it. She was extremely brave and strong to do everything she did especially in the end. That blew me away and had me holding my breath.

Charles has been slowly slipping away from his friends for some time now. He hides behind that smile of his, but he has a heart of gold and is struggling. I always knew he was going to have the most shocking story.

I absolutely loved his mother and sister.

It was okay. I enjoyed the previous books in this series more although I read them for free on Wattpad. I guess it was all too similar and predictable.. That being said, Lauren Smith is an amazing writer and historical novels are my favourite so can't wait to see what she brings up next.

I liked this book. The plot and setting is good. I read this book as a stand alone and the plot is very good. The romance was great, i felt the love and lust. I also liked the male lead. I stan a mysterious kind man who goes for what the want. The friends of the male lead is great. Loved it.
