I would not be where I am without James Tolan's guidance and mentorship; he was among the very best professors I have ever had. So with that in mind, it is impossible for me to be objective here. But this book is everything that made Professor Tolan (he will always be Professor Tolan) a remarkable, vibrant, joyous figure and artist. His spirit is here. His life is here. And it always will be, now. I miss him very much, and I will treasure the last lessons to be found here.
